David A. Lewis was born in 1966 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University - James Madison College in 1988 and his Juris Doctorate Degree from University of Detroit School of Law in 1991. David practiced law in the Detroit area before returning to Kalamazoo in 1994.

David has extensive experience in many practice areas including civil litigation, corporate/business law, employment matters, municipal, real estate, and personal injury law. His practice is now concentrated primarily on civil litigation, business law and personal injury law. 

David is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, and the Kalamazoo and Oakland County Bar Associations. He served on the Board of Directors for the Kalamazoo County Bar Association from 2003 through 2007, acting as the Association's Vice President (2005-2006) and President (2006-2007). Since 2010, he has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee - Southwestern District, and began serving as Chairperson in January, 2014.  David has been selected as a Michigan "Super Lawyer" annually since 2007.  He is honored to be a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Kalamazoo County Trial Lawyers Association.  David has been active in many community service organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan - Southwest Michigan Chapter from 1997 to 2001 and chairing the Nominating and Board Development Committee. David is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court - Eastern District of Michigan, United States District Court - Western District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals - Sixth Circuit.

David enjoys coaching his kids in a variety of sports and is an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
